Figure 8 Knot – Essential Knots for Rock Climbing

The figure 8 knot is one of the most common climbing knots, any time you climb you will most likely tie several of these.

It is usually used on the ends of a rope to stop it from pulling through equipment like a belay device and it is used for attaching the rope to your harness.

Some more advanced climbers replace this know with some others but this is still taught as one of the most basic knots to all new rock climbers.
